Day 2. Golden Day
After a good breakfast, you meet up with our guide at 9 am and we head to the countryside. We tour the renowned Golden Circle, including a visit to the famous Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes. We also visit Gullfoss (Golden) waterfall and Thingvellir national park, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. This is where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart at a rate of 2-6 cm per year. Thingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930. It is an area of truly outstanding beauty as well as geological and historical significance. From Thingvellir, we head to Borgarfjordur to the luxurious Hotel Husafell which is placed between waterfalls and glaciers. The restaurant at Husafell is famous for their a la carte menus. If weather permits, we head for a Northern Lights hunt. (B)

After breakfast, we head for the adventurous Glacier experience at Langjökull. The tour starts right from the hotel where, we step into a monster truck, which takes us up on the Langjökull glacier and where you get the opportunity to explore the glacier and see it from inside. An experienced guide will lead the way the whole time to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves to the fullest. After optional lunch, we head back to Reykjavik and on the way we visit Hraunfossar waterfalls, one of the most beautiful place in Iceland. There the clear cold springs of subterranean water seep through the lava and run as tiny waterfalls and rapids into the Hvitá glacier river. A short distance from there, we introduce to you Deildartunguhver which is Europe’s most powerful hot spring providing 180 l/secs of 98°C hot water. Next to Deildartunguhver is the geothermal nature bath Krauma, which opens summer 2017, where we can soak ourselves in outdoor hot tubs and enjoy the saunas and unique tranquillity room. Please note that in Iceland it is a custom to wear swimsuits in saunas. After the refreshing bath, we head to Reykjavik were the evening is at your disposal in world’s northernmost capital. (B)
