Your exciting journey to Egypt begins as you board your flight to Cairo.
Day 2 Fri: Arrive Cairo
Arrive in Cairo, capital of Egypt. You are met and escorted to INTERCONTINENTAL PYRAMIDS HOTEL.
Day 3 Sat: Cairo / Alexandria
Depart Cairo today and travel through the desert to the ancient Mediterranean port city of Alexandria. Enjoy and relax at the beach for the rest of the day. HELNAN PALESTINE HOTEL (B)
Day 4 Sun: Alexandria / Cairo
This morning, visit the national museum and the Catacombs. a “tour de force” of rock-cut architecture. Following lunch, visit Pompeii’s Pillar, originally from the temple of the Serapis. Return to Cairo. Overnight at INTERCONTINENTAL PYRAMIDS HOTEL. (BL)
Day 5 Mon: Cairo / Luxor
Return to Cairo today to board your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, transfer to PRESIDENTIAL NILE CRUISE, your home for the next 4 nights. This afternoon, tour the Karnak and Luxor temples. (BLD)
Day 6 Tue: Luxor / Esna / Edfu
Cross over to the West Bank and visit the Necropolis of Thebes, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Continue to Esna, the site of a temple dedicated to the God Khnum. Sail to Edfu overnight. (BLD)
Day 7 Wed: Edfu / Kom Ombo / Aswan
Visit the temple dedicated to the falcon-headed god, Horus. Sail to Kom Ombo and visit the temple shared by the two Gods Sobek and Haroeris. Sail to Aswan overnight. (BLD)
Day 8 Thu: Aswan
Visit the High Dam and the Temple of Philae. View the elephantine island by felucca (sail boat) and visit the Agha Khan Mausoleum. (BLD)
Day 9 Fri: Aswan / Cairo
Fly to Cairo this morning. Transfer to CAIRO SHEPHERDS HOTEL, located downtown. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 10 Sat: Pyramids / Memphis / Saqqara
Visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, including the Pyramid of Khufu and the Sphinx. Drive to Memphis, once a vast metropolis and capital of the Old Kingdom. Continue to Saqqara, the oldest stone complex in the world, to see the towering Step Pyramid of Djoser, the earliest of all the pyramids. (BL)
Day 11 Sun: Cairo Sightseeing
Explore the ancient city of Cairo today, including visits to the Egyptian National Museum, Old Cairo, the Citadel, the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali and the colorful Khan el Khalili Bazaar. Enjoy a farewell dinner hosted by an Egyptian family in their home. (BLD)
Day 12 Mon: Cairo / New York
Depart Cairo this morning for home, filled with wonder for the art and antiquities of this ancient land.
