Day 1: Arrival at Tegucigalpa
Meet and greet at the International Airport of San Pedro Sula and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at the Hotel Holiday Inn.
Day 2: Los Naranjos archeological site and Valle de los Angeles
After having breakfast, transfer to Tegucigalpa visiting Los Naranjos Archaeological Site at the Yojoa Lake. In the afternoon, you will visit the Valle de Angeles and Santa Lucia. Overnight at the Hotel Plaza del General or similar. (BL)
Day 3: Tour to Colonial town of Comayagua and La Esperanza
After breakfast at your hotel, drive to the colonial town of Comayagua, the Capital of the country from 1542 until 1888. Among the monuments that you will visit in this town are the Cathedral, the church of Las Mercedes and the Museum of Comayagua, which offers a variety of artifacts dating from the colonial time. In the afternoon, drive to la Esperanza, visiting the city of Siguatepeque en route. Overnight at the Hotel Los Dos Pinos. (BL)
Day 4: La Esperanza –Casa de la Cultura –Forest of small trees.
After breakfast, you will have the whole day to explore La Esperanza. La Esperanza is located about 1,600 meters above sea level. Due to this altitude the climate is very cool, thus making it the ideal place for growing vegetables and fruits. La Esperanza is one of the few places in Honduras where the culture of the Lencas is still alive. You will have the opportunity to get to know their way of living and observe how they produce their typical clothing. Later, visit la Casa de la Cultura and a beautiful Bosque Enano (forest with small trees). Overnight at the Hotel Los Dos Pinos. (BL)
Day 5: Depart from La Esperanza to Gracias Town
After breakfast you will head towards Gracias, where you will visit its colonial churches. Gracias was founded in 1536 and its colonial architecture and charm makes it a very special place. Gracias was declared seat of the Audiencia de los Confines in April 1544, thus converting it into the capital of Central America and Honduras during this period of time. Lunch will be at Guancascos, which offers a splendid view of the town. In the afternoon, transfer to Santa Rosa de Copán where you will visit its church. Overnight at the Hotel Elvir. (BL)
Day 6: Cigar Factory Visit / Copan
In the morning, after having breakfast, you will visit a factory where cigars are produced. Here the whole process of producing cigars can be observed. Afterwards, you will go on towards Copán. On the way, visit an archaeological site called El Puente. There, you will also visit its interesting museum. Stop at the Finca Santa Isabel, a coffee plantation, for lunch. Hike the trails after lunch and get a first hand look at the process of making coffee, from the plant nursery to the last processing of the coffee beans. In the afternoon, head towards the Copán Ruins. Overnight in Copán. (BL)
Day 7: Day tour of Copan Ruins and Archeological site
After breakfast, you will visit the Main Archaeological Site, the Sculpture Museum and Las Sepulturas, the only restored residential area. In the afternoon, you will have a choice between two tours: horseback riding or the Butterfly Farm. Overnight in Copán. (BL)
Day 8: Tropical bird Park and Guamilito Market
After breakfast, visit the Tropical Bird Park close to Copán where you will have lunch. After lunch, head towards Tela. En route, visit a handcraft market called Guamilito. Overnight at the Hotel Villas Telamar. (BL)
Day 9: Visit National Park Punta Sal and depart to Pico Bonito National park
This morning, visit the National Park Punta Sal and visit La Ceiba in the afternooon. Overnight at the Eco-Lodge at Pico Bonito. (BL)
Day 10: Visit of Pico Bonito National park (half day)
After breakfast, you will visit the Butterfly Farm, its trails and the Snake House. Afterwards, we will take you to the Airport of La Ceiba, where you can take a flight back to San Pedro Sula or Tegucigalpa to connect you with your international flight. (B)
