Day 1: Hawk Dreaming
Depart Darwin at 7.00am and travel to Kakadu
National Park. We start with the Guluyambi Cruise on
the East Alligator River. Aboriginal guides provide
us with an insight into their culture, the river’s
abundant food sources and traditional uses for many
plants as well as bush survival skills. Later we
make our way to our exclusive camp at Hawk Dreaming
before we visit Ubirr, where your guide will
interpret some of the meanings behind the ancient
Aboriginal rock art. Overnight at a PURPOSE-BUILT
PERMANENT SAFARI TENT with ample headroom, fan &
lockable front door. Contains 2 single beds with
linen (double bed subject to availability). Separate
shared facilities, shower units with hot & cold
running water & flushing toilets. (L D)
Day 2: Jim Jim Gorge & Twin Falls
A truly enjoyable day exploring the majestic beauty
of Jim Jim and Twin Falls! The plunge pool at the
base of Jim Jim provides the opportunity for a
welcome swim. The surrounding gorges are a spectacle
to behold as the rock colours continuously change
with the sun’s position. Return to Hawk Dreaming and
overnight at a PURPOSE-BUILT PERMANENT SAFARI
TENT. (B L D)
Day 3: Yellow Water Wetlands
Spend the early morning exploring the Aboriginal
lands of Hawk Dreaming – visit some of the ancient
rock art sites and shelters in the land of the
Bunitj people. The intimate rock art sites can be
explored at a leisurely pace, without fences or
crowds, with time to soak up the spiritual
atmosphere of the area. Late morning bid goodbye to
Hawk Dreaming and head south to Cooinda for a picnic
lunch. Then we’ll board our boat for our cruise on
the Yellow Water Wetlands where you’ll have the
opportunity to spot for crocodiles, birds and other
wildlife. We return to Darwin, arriving at
approximately 7.00pm. (B L)
