SOUTH AFRICA
Day 1 - Arrive Cape Town
Arrive in Cape Town, where you are met and escorted to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure.
Day 2 - Cape Winelands
Depart on a full day tour of the Cape Winelands. Enjoy the fabulous vistas from the Taal Monument, a cellar tour, and a visit to the Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek. Travel through the Helshoogte Mountain pass to Stellenbosch for a stroll through this charming university town. There will be time for lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) before wine tasting at two estates (plus a third tasting if time permits – own expense). (B)
Day 3 - Cape Peninsula
Today, explore the Cape Peninsula. Drive along the False Bay coastline via Boulders Beach (penguin colony) to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Cape Point, at the tip of the peninsula, is regarded as the meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Return to Cape Town via the scenic Atlantic Coastline. (B)
Day 4 - Cape Town / Kruger National Park
Fly to the Kruger National Park and enjoy your first afternoon game drive. Later, experience a delicious dinner under the starlit sky. (BLD)
Days 5 & 6 - Kruger National Park
Roam the reserve in open 4WD vehicles in search of elephant, leopard, cheetah, kudu, giraffe, Cape buffalo, hippo and other species. Other activities offered include interpretive bush walks, bird watching, game viewing from hides and river fishing. (BLD)
ZAMBIA
Day 7 - Kruger National Park / Livingstone
Fly to Livingstone, Zambia. Take an evening sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River. (B)
Day 8 - Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Tour the falls with its vast curtain of water that is nearly a mile wide and 355 feet high. The afternoon is at leisure for optional activities such as Elephant-back Safari, bungee jumping, Flight of Angels and others. (B)
Day 9 – Livingstone / Chobe National Park
Transfer by road and boat to Chobe National Park in Botswana. These combined wetlands, dry woodlands and savannas are home to a huge elephant population. Enjoy a late afternoon sunset cruise. (BD)
Day 10 - Chobe National Park
Take morning and afternoon game drives in open 4WD vehicles. At day’s end, return to the lodge for another spectacular sunset on the Chobe River. (BLD)
Day 11 - Chobe / Livingstone / Johannesburg
After a morning game drive, return to Livingstone in time for your flight to Johannesburg, to connect with your departure flight. (B)
OPTIONAL EXTENSION TO KENYA
Day 11 - Arrive Johannesburg
Arrive in Johannesburg where the afternoon is at leisure to rest before the next part of your safari in Kenya. (B).
Day 12 - Johannesburg / Nairobi
Fly to Kenya. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you are met and escorted to your luxurious accommodations. (B)
Day 13 - Nairobi / Sweetwaters Game Reserve
Drive through the fertile central highlands to Sweetwaters Game Reserve for a game drive and a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. (BLD)
Day 14 - Sweetwaters Game Reserve / Mount Kenya
Travel to our lodge on the flanks of Kenya’s highest mountain and secreted deep within her largest forest reserve. Fall asleep to the symphony of the African night or sit in stillness and observe the fascinating interplay of the animals as they arrive to drink, bathe, spar and forage around the water hole. (BLD)
Day 15 - Mount Kenya / Masai Mara Game Reserve
Awake to the trumpeting of elephant before we fly across the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, the highlight of any East African safari. (BLD)
Day 16 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara, widely considered to be Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve. A balloon safari is also available (additional cost). (BLD)
Day 17 - Masai Mara / Nairobi / Depart
Enjoy one last morning game drive in Masai Mara Game Reserve before returning to Nairobi by air where a day room is provided. You have the option of visiting the Karen Blixen Museum and Giraffe Manor (additional charge) before your departure. Alternatively, end this tour with a relaxing beach holiday along the East African Coast. (B)
