5 Days Windhoek, Sossusvlei
10 Days Windhoek, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund,
Damaraland, Etosha National Park
Day 1 – Johannesburg / Windhoek
Midday departure from Johannesburg for Windhoek. On arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 – Windhoek / Sossusvlei
Depart Windhoek and travel into the Namib Desert with its monumental dunes and everchanging colors. This is the oldest and driest desert on earth; nevertheless it supports a
vast diversity of adapted fauna and flora that accentuate this pristine environment even further. Optional activities at your lodge consist of scenic nature drives and marvellous
walking trails. (BD)
Day 3 - Sossusvlei
The best time to experience the Sossusvlei area is at sunrise when the new light paints the dunes and desert plains into a variety of deep reds, apricot and purple – a photographers
dream! Travel into the heart of the Namib Desert with the highest sand dunes on earth. Experience the majestic yet tranquil Sossusvlei or the surreal Dead Vlei on foot.
Enjoy a picnic lunch under the Camelthorn trees, before traveling back to your lodge via the gaping Sesriem Canyon. (BLD)
Day 4 – Sossusvlei / Swakopmund
Continue to Swakopmund where the afternoon is at leisure. (BD*).
Those doing the 5 day Sossusvlei Adventure will return to Windhoek today and overnight.
Day 5 – Swakopmund / Damaraland
Travel along huge lichen fields to Cape Cross, a fur seal reserve where at times over 80,000 animals frolic in the waves of the Atlantic. Drive via the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain, into the Damaraland – one of the least populated and geologically diverse areas in Africa. This harsh, rocky environment is home to the rare Desert elephant, the Black rhino and an array of free-roaming antelope species. (BD*)
Day 6 – Damaraland / Etosha
Start the morning with a visit to Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s only world heritage site where bushman communities engraved and painted over 2,500 pictures some 6,000 years ago. Visit the Burnt Mountain, Petrified Forest and the Organ Pipes – all geological phenomena depicting the creation and evolution of some of the oldest landmasses on earth. Proceed on to your lodge close to the world-renowned Etosha National Park. (BD*)
Day 7 – Etosha National Park
The following two days are devoted purely to the abundant wildlife found in the Etosha National Park, which surrounds a parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan. The
park is home to 4 of the Big Five - elephant, lion, leopard and rhino – its waterholes supporting a rich diversity of birds and mammals, including rare species such as blackfaced
Impala, roan, cheetah, and Namibia’s smallest antelope, the Damara Dik-Dik. (B*)
Day 8 – Etosha National Park
After a game drive in the park, travel to your next lodge where the evening is at leisure. (BD*)
Day 9 – Etosha / Windhoek
