4 Days / 3 Nights

The great Shire River is the only outlet for
massive Lake Malawi. Its passage through Liwonde
National
Park, the country’s premier wildlife reserve, offers
wonderful opportunities to view animals as they
visit
the river to drink.
Fly into Malawi’s capital of Lilongwe, where you are
welcomed and escorted to Liwonde National Park. You
will be staying in MVUU WILDERNESS LODGE, which is
discreetly tucked away amidst thick riverine
vegetation. Each Hemingway-styled tent offers its
own private view of the palm-fringed lagoon that
abounds with exciting bird life. You will have an
opportunity to explore the river and lagoons by
boat. You will also enjoy game drives by day and
night in open vehicles that will reveal large
numbers of elephants and Sable antelopes. You may
even get a chance to view lions, leopards, Black
rhinos, servals and the rare oribi.
KAYA MAWA EXTENSION
Extend your stay to Lake Malawi, and the stunning
KAYA MAWA LODGE, Likoma Island. To visit the island
is to step back in time. Covering an area of only
6.5 square miles, the island has one small dirt road
and 2 vehicles, hundreds of huge baobab trees, and a
number of glorious sandy beaches and rocky coves.
The waters are crystal clear throughout the year and
the diving and snorkeling is among the best in Lake
Malawi. Kaya Mawa Lodge was built completely by hand
of materials taken from the island’s natural
surroundings of beach, rock, island and lake. It
consists of seven stone-and-teak-framed thatched
cottages set into a granite headland, each facing
the lake. There is a honeymoon house tucked away on
its own private island that is reached by boat.
